Well-executed typography can make a theme beautiful, but images really make the design pop!
Header images are a great way to add style to a theme and set the tone on a site. As a common request from theme users, header images are an essential part of your theme development toolkit.
In this course, you’ll learn how to give users the option to upload custom header images to display on their sites.
What you’ll make
You’ll use WordPress’ built-in header image functionality to add a new Customizer section where users can select and crop any image to display in the header.
Header images can be output anywhere and we’ll output ours at the very top of the site before the site title.
What you’ll learn
In adding this functionality to your theme, you’ll learn how to:
- Add the “Header Image” section to the Customizer
- Customize the size recommended to users for header images
- Output the header image
- Add support for header videos
- Set a default header image
This course is pretty short and simple, so you’ll race through it and pick up a great new feature to include in all your themes.
